Traveling to the Osa

You can get to the Osa Peninsula easily by car, bus or plane.  You can rent a vehicle in any major city including Puerto Jimenez.  Rental companies located in Puerto Jimenez are Alamo and Solid Rental Car.  The road from San Jose is paved until you get to Puerto Jimenez.  If you continue out to Carate, your best off with a 4-wheel drive vehicle especially during the wet season May to November.  Taxis are available if you don’t feel like doing the drive yourself.

A public bus from Blanco-Lobo Transport runs between San José and Puerto Jimenez leaving San José daily at 8 am and 12 pm/leaving Puerto Jimenez at 5 am and 9 am daily. The trip takes about 8 to 9 hours. For information please call (+ 506) 2735-5189 / 2257-4121.

There are three airlines; Sansa Regional, Skyway and Aerobell Airlines that shuttle people between San Jose and other points of departure to Puerto Jimenez.  There are upwards of four flights daily during the high tourist season December through May.  One way fare is approximately $130.
